Valentine Extravaganza

Come join us for some fun, self love and intentional acts of kindness.

And it’s free.

Creativity is our human birthright, yet often an experience or someone’s opinion shut down that joy of creation. When did you put down the crayons?

The Foul Mouth Crone

“The Bad Girl”

aka the Foul Mouth Crone

When I was a child, my grandparents used to recite this nursery rhyme to me when I was getting out of hand, and call me the Girl with the Curl.

“There  was a little girl

Who had a little curl,

Right in the middle of her forehead.

And when she was good, she was very very good;

But when she was bad, she was horrid.”

From very young I think this stuck in my filtering system and I knew I was expected to be good and bad was horrible.  It took me quite a few years to realize that there was a whole lot of stuff in between and I needed to embrace both, integrating what works for me from both and ignoring what others thought I should be.

There are so many names for the “Bad Girl”. Most all are negative and used to gain power and control of how others see these girls/women.  We tend to put it all on the men, but women actually use this way of categorizing women just as often. A way to classify, or uplift their own selves, or demonize the unwanted and ugly or to hang on to their own sense of self worth.

The Bad Girl, The Mean Girl, The Hussy,

The Pissed off Hag

The Scarlet Letter Woman

The OH it must be that time of month Girl

The Man Stealer

The Man Hater

The Other Woman, The Woman in Red, The Slut

The Whore, The Prostitute

The Foul Mouthed Old Crone

The Fisherman’s Wife

The Witch, The Bitch, The Temptress

The Wicked Woman

The Siren, The Muses

The Rebel

The Bitter Old Woman

The Feminist, The Loud Mouth

The Unwed Mother, The Single Parent

The Bad Girl, she has no class.  She is shameless.

She acts like a man.

She is easy, sleeps around, promiscuous.

She has to work.

She is uncontrollable, braless, vulgar.

She is vindictive, manipulative, dishonest, cruel, nasty.

She is not obedient, doesn’t behave.

She is critical, judgemental, loud, not pleasant.

She is abusive, gold digging, willful.

She is a non conformist.

She is very sexual.

The Good Girl is safe, The Bad Girl is Dangerous.

We are both, they are within us.

If we physically hurt yourself or someone else either can be toxic.

Otherwise, we need to integrate them, use what we need to move forward, and have no apologies.

If a woman purports to anything but being a mother and or a wife she is stepping into being accused of and named a Bad Girl, especially if she enters a man’s domain. And if she chooses to be a mother and or a wife, she will be accused of copping out, or lazy, or incapable.  A woman who rises to the top, or even the middle of her profession, any profession, will be demonized in one way or another, and by both men and women alike. If she speaks up for herself, stands up for herself , lives fiercely , unapologetically, strong, capable, doesn’t believe in the good girl/ bad girl fairy tale, becomes the target of others insecurities.

Wiktionary defines Bad Girl as slang for a female criminal.  A woman whose rebellious nature makes her attractive.

Mzangila dot com says :

Good girls keep the company of people they don’t like or who do not add value to their lives.  They say they do not want to offend those people by breaking the association.

Bad girls have no time for such pretense.  They will tell you off and avoid your company if it doesn’t add value to their lives.

Bad is also defined as of poor quality or a low standard, inferior, second rate.  An evil or unhappy state.

Terrible dreadful poor cheap, abysmal awful lousy atrocious crummy horrible, deplorable diabolical disgraceful and 218 more synonyms appear in the thesaurus.

What do you think? When I hear Bad Girl, I ask by whose standards?  Why? And, Is that wrong? Is someone getting hurt? If no, then more power to her!  Being a bad girl can be good for you. There is a broad spectrum of awesome, fantastic women between the two extremes.  To me, it is actually the whole Dance of the Critic and the Muse!

How’s that for a rant?

New Moon Circle Card

I am taking Kendall Sarah Scott’s Moon Wisdom offering and we are doing full moon cards so I thought I would also so new moon cards to use with them.

My January Dark Moon round card has turned up a lot of watery blue on one side and lots of feet and dancing on the other. I think it has a lot to say to me.

I am listening.

2021

Going into 2021 with Safe and Sacred Circles for my word and Ready to Engage as my my phrase and upgrade my vibration! Thank you Marina Tselner for sharing your technique of black over background to create letters. It was perfect for activating my new word of the year!

This becomes this. And still the color shows through!

Yes!

I finally got it. Thank you all who have done my classes and everyone who supported me through this certification.

I have achieved my goal and am now certified as a red thread guide, an intentional creativity teacher and a cosmic smashbooking teacher. It has been an intense three years but so worth it.

Yahoo! Now for developing my own curriculum.

Making a cover for a smashbook out of egg cartons

I wanted to see if i could make paper/board with egg cartons even though all my papermaking supplies are packed away. Could I just rip them up, soak them and flatten it all out on a towel? And if that works where can I go from there……..

Interesting journey with egg carton experiment almost complete . I ripped about three or so cartons up in big chunks, threw them in a bowl and added water. I let it soak over night,, added some glitter and red tissue paper tidbits, scooped it out with my hands (letting water drip out) and then layed it out on bath towels to dry.

Now that I’ve learned a bunch, I will try it again. My photo taking leaves much to be desired but perfecting it is at the bottom of my gotta do list.

Some of the things i will do differently:

  1. Break the cartons into much tinier pieces.
  2. Be more careful when flipping it over. Screening would have helped, but just used towels trying to really simplify.
  3. Make board a little thinner or not in the wettest week of the year so far. It took over a week to dry it out.
  4. I painted a thin layer of glue/water over it when dry to help hold my boo boos together. I think i will just add some glue to original pulp mixture.

I wasn’t totally thrilled with the gray color but since I embedded glitter and colored tissue in it I didn’t want paint that would cover them up so I painted it lightly with walnut ink and wiped some off. I really like the look of it now.
Anxious to find out how the turmeric worked that a fellow Red Thread Creative added to her mix. It was a beautiful yellow color of course.

I added some watercolor paper and cut up some larger pieces of brown packing paper i had already used for other drawings.

I haven’t quite decided how I wanted to deal with the edges or inside covers yet and I still have to crush the pages and add ribbons, etc., etc. But it is definitely growing on me. The most important thing is I am having fun in the moment and letting some of the mind chatter go away.

Asking for guidance and adding more symbols door#2

Working on door #2 this afternoon. Added symbols in the double moons. The left one is sigil for breathe and the right is for create. To me, the two most important things for my life to exist.

What do you find are very important prerequisites of your life?

Then I added the prayer requests to show me, guide me , teach me , calm me. etc.

And then ….. 3 colors for background and portal. The blue signifies the ocean and all water, the red is the earth 🌎 and the lava that cooled into rock which was ground by the ocean to make the earth. The yellow is the sky, air, sun, life support.

Beginnings

Decided to see if i could make hard cosmic smashbook covers with none of my equipment. So I ripped up some egg cartons (next time a little smaller pieces), and  threw them in a bowl with water overnight.  Today I added some glitter, a little red and purple tissue paper and a little white glue. Then I scooped it out with hands, dropped it right on to towels in sort of a rectangle, topped it with another towel and squished it flatter. Flipped the whole thing over. Flattened a little more with rolling pin, and switched to another towel with a little texture (probably won’t press in because pulp is too heavy) and now left to dry.
Its supposed to rain for a week so I may not be able to get it dry, but we will see.
Now its sit and wait and think of all the other things I could try.

Door #2 – The Four Elements

Start at the beginning. Let it all go, be thankful, and go to the four corners, the four directions, dance the medicine circle.

Fire, water, earth, and air. The four elements that are necessary for all life.

That is my next step. Get back to the basic foundation that I believe attaches me to this planet. It took lots of journalling and quiet thinking to break it all down to this. But here I am.

What do you see as a foundation for your life? Atoms, molecules? Stardust? I guess I could go even deeper but this is where I rest right now.

Earth, Water, Air, and Fire are indeed the four corners of life; life could not possibly flourish or sustain itself without each and every single one of these elements, which we can thus rightfully call the Roots of Life.

I am all fire and water big time so I am adding a feather and a rock to bring in more earth and air for balance.
