What’s happening on Mist Mountain ? A Walk-Around in April, a very unpredictable month.
No, I am not talking about the chickens again, but rather my succulents. There are over 100 species of them, all of which form low, succulent rosettes of leaves. Some varieties grow only a couple of inches wide, while others spread into mats several feet across.
The best part is they thrive even when abused. If you knock a pot over, just stuff it all back in. For a while we had some growing in old work boots, kind of cute, but the boots finally rotted. If one breaks off, just plant it somewhere and the hen will produce more chicks.
I planted some on an old birdhouse, on the tiered wood step garden, in hanging baskets and broken pots. All have their own special appeal.
Really like the idea of growing plants in old boots!
Best wishes,
Nilanjana.

I don’t have a picture of them but they were pretty cute but there are lots of examples on internet like http://themicrogardener.com/sensational-shoe-planters/ or https://www.pinterest.com/theglassgarden/boots-in-the-garden/
