Hurrah! Finished the taxes today and one month early, there is a celebration in order. I hate doing taxes. I did it for a living for a number of years. Liked it for a while. Then I got more and more unorganized, uncooperative clients and the thrill was gone. Now, just doing our own is such a chore in my mind. I put it off and put it off. The whole thing leaves me with a huge headache.
It should not be so complicated. And it should definitely not carry such anxiety, as in not getting anything wrong for Fear of The Audit. Been there, done that, don’t ever want that experience again.
Taxes have always been a problem with someone somewhere throughout history. Can’t one of these new techies figure out a way to simplify it all? I guess that is why people pay to have someone else do it for them.
I’m assuming you live in the US.
It all seems to be so different there. I don’t have to do it here, since I’ve never worked, but my husband does it. In my native Sweden, I did it every year, and the last, few years it was done online. No big deal, unless you’re a business owner or some such. I just had an ordinary job and a rental apartment so … nobody’s scared of audits or anything.
Yes, the US. I don’t know why it seems so stressful. I try to keep the important things in one place throughout the year so I don’t have to do too much searching but by July I think I lose focus and things aren’t so organized. Hopefully, it will get easier now that we are both officially retired.
