This hen has been through the wringer, kind of like some of us. The rooster picked her out of a line-up of five new chicks last year and beat her up constantly. I finally had to separate her from the others. This year she has been sitting on eggs forever. Two batches and any other eggs she could find, even when I chased her off and removed the eggs, she would still be sitting in her box next time I checked on her. Finally, last week I found some baby chicks at the local feed store hoping she might adopt them. Only having one eye.now makes it challenging for her to watch five chicks and their crazy antics, but I think she is going to do well. Just another example that we can overcome what life throws our way. Adapt, persevere, and enjoy.
