Thursdays on Mist Mountain Inside

As usual, I can’t find what I want when I want it.  I will remember about 2 a.m.  In the meantime, one of you asked me how to make lion statues and gargoyles to put in the garden.  Get this book.

Not only is this a very inspiring book, it has many recipes for your mixture of concrete and lots of different ways of putting it all together.

My spinning friends get together several times a year and we spend the day playing in the “mud” and sculpting things for the garden.  I am definitely ready for another play day because I have all kinds of ideas for the next creation.  I need a gargoyle or two, some stepping stones,  a few balls (made by filling an old round globe from a light with mixture, letting it set, and breaking the glass when done), and more.

There are quite a few articles on line about creating concrete objects as well, from benches to birdbaths to monoliths.  As you can see in open book pic above, you can even make a castle.  This is like playing in clay all grown up and monster size.

Maybe Stonehenge or Easter Island statues could decorate the lawn…..

  1. Sounds like great fun. I will look for the book. (I already have a bowling ball that I am planning to cover with mortar & glass tiles…. Or ?????)
